By taking a look at both my PS3 gamercards, you'll quickly notice something: I've unlocked more than a few platinum trophies. You know, that glorious trophy that can only be earned when you've gotten all of the other non-DLC trophies for a particular game. It's the extra bit of achievement that I feel when I complete game. And I'll be honest: I'm addicted to that achievement. I've felt it 47 times so far, and I'm nowhere near stopping.

Now...looking through my 47 plats, you'll notice a wide variety of games that I've played for a wider variety of reasons. Seeing as though I'm often asked why I have so many plats - and furthermore why I want to get so many plats - here's where I get so explain my modi operandi. I'll mention all 47 games I've gotten the plat in, but note that not all games have just one reason!

1) I like the challenge.
Reason behind: Demon's Souls, [PROTOTYPE], Killzone 2, Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Devil May Cry 3 HD, Final Fantasy XIII, ICO

I thrive on being challenged to better myself, no matter what the medium. With some games, I really have to step my game up to finish the trophy list for it. Some took less time than I thought it would, and others *cough*Killzone2*cough* took over a year to accomplish. These are plats I'm very proud of, and I hope to add more to this list in the future!

2) I enjoy the game itself.
Reason behind: Demon's Souls, [PROTOTYPE], [PROTOTYPE 2], Killzone 2, Killzone 3, Prince of Persia, Rock Band 2, Burnout Paradise, Skyrim, Borderlands, Trine, Trine 2, LittleBigPlanet, Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3, Dante's Inferno, Assassin's Creed II, Portal 2, Heavy Rain, Devil May Cry 3 HD, Lollipop Chainsaw, Sly 1, Sly 2, Sly 3, Eyepet, WWE SD! vs. Raw 2010, WWE Legends of Wrestlemania, ICO, Sound Shapes, Sound Shapes (Vita)

Some games aren't the most challenging...but when they're just so fun to play, who cares? If I think it's a fun game, I'm going to play the heck out of it. And on the PS3, that usually means you're looking at earning another platinum trophy.

3) I play these at tournaments.
Reason behind: Rock Band 2, Demon's Souls, Killzone 2, Killzone 3

Simply put: I want to be the best I can be at a tournament, so practicing on these games helps a lot. Usually it gets to the point where I either end up getting the plat without actively seeking it, or I come so close that it's pointless not to just finish the trophy set.

4) The platinum trophy looks pretty cool!
Reason behind: [PROTOTYPE], Assassin's Creed II, Megamind, Lollipop Chainsaw, Skyrim, Trine 2, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, Killzone 2, Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3, Terminator: Salvation

Yeah...this is pretty self-explanatory. Sometimes I see a plat that looks cool, and as such I want it in my collection. Terminator: Salvation hits home to this chemist's heart (it's the electron configuration of the element platinum - SOOOOO COOL!), whereas the Pip-Boy for Fallout 3 is just plain awesome.

5) I've got to have the whole set!
Reason behind: [PROTOTYPE 2], Killzone, Killzone 3, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Mass Effect 3, God of War II, Portal 2, Devil May Cry 3 HD, Sly 2, Sly 3, Sound Shapes (Vita)

Not getting a sequel's plat is like leaving an open parenthesis: it bugs me. Plus, it's nice to say that you have the whole set of trophies for a particular series.

6) I'm...well, a trophy hunter.
Reason behind: Hannah Montana: The Movie, Where the Wild Things Are, Megamind, Up, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Terminator: Salvation, Trine 2, God of War, God of War II, Last Rebellion, Assassin's Creed II, Eyepet, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, WWE SD! vs. Raw 2010, WWE Legends of Wrestlemania, Spare Parts, Sound Shapes (Vita)

Also self-explanatory, it's my least favorite reason for having some of that plats that I have. These are easy, quick, and/or rage-less plats that help boost my trophy levels. On the bright side I'm not the only one that does this!
